WorldMate professional is an app which is really fitting for an e-series device. If you are a businessman who travels a lot WorldMate pro is perfect for you. It has a high functionality and presents you always the information which you need while travelling. The UI is simple, nice to look at and works flawlessly.
There are eight modules on the main screen of this app. The first four are Clocks, Currency, Weather Center and World Map. Those are freely available. Upgrading to the professional version gives you access to four additional modules, Flight Alerts, Flight Status, Flight Schedules and Satellite Imagery. WorldMate is a subscription product. The annual subscription for the professional version is priced at $50.
First thing you should do after starting this app for the first time is check if the settings are the way you want them to be. Things like if the temperature should be shown in Celsius or Fahrenheit, your preferred unit of measuring or the access point.
Let’s have a look at the individual modules of WorldMate. The first one is the Clocks. It is pretty simple but works fairly well and allows you to set the time of up to 5 different cities simultaneously without a hassle.
The next one is Currency. It does exactly what you would expect it to do and that is to convert currencies. The nice thing is that three different currencies are shown at once for conversion e.g. USD, EUR and GBP. You always have the option to update the currencies over the internet.
The third one is the Weather Center. There is nothing extraordinary about it. You just choose a city from which you want to know the weather and you will be provided with an automatic weather update notification. There is also a 5 day forecast.
The last of the freely available modules is the World Map. It shows you whether it is daytime or night in your desired destination and includes a world clock and a city locator.
Flight Alerts will provide you with real- time notifications when there are status changes, such as flight delays and cancellations. You only have to enter your scheduled flights into the Flight Alert service.
Flight Status will give you real-time information about your flight-delays, gate, terminal information and more. This covers over 350 airlines.
Flight Schedules provides you with daily and weekly schedules for your selected route. It supports over 800 airlines.
Last but not least is the Satellite Imagery. It shows you up-to-date, animated weather satellite imagery of you current location.
Overall this is a very useful app and people who need it definitely shouldn’t be turned off by the annual subscription fee. There is a trial version available here. It is advisable to try this out before purchasing the one year license.
